Just three years ago, Polis tried to convince taxpayers that Proposition CC somehow would let the state spend more money “without raising taxes.” He used that phrase three times in the same op-ed. Why else would Jared Polis and the Democrats in the legislature think you would fall for their “saving you money” election-year circus act? Step right up, folks! One that comes to mind is punter James Burnip, who we included in the current count of 87. A couple of other possibilities include the status of freshman defensive back Tony Mitchell, who is suspended following a March arrest, and whether or not some players are on scholarship. There is always the possibility of a graduate transfer, which can enter the portal at any point. Although the date to enter the portal has passed, players can commit to a school at any time. Therefore, the roster remains in flux after the transfer window. That left Alabama at one player over the NCAA limit of 85 scholarship players, but after the A-Day Game, the Tide added Notre Dame quarterback Tyler Buchner to the quarterback battle and is actively recruiting defensive backs like Jaylen Key of UAB and Trey Amos of Louisiana to add secondary depth. Those can still trickle in, but as things stand, the Crimson Tide had three players choose to transfer before the spring ended in tight end Elijah Brown and defensive backs Jahquez Robinson and Tre’Quon Fegans. Players that have yet to graduate wishing to participate in fall or winter sports had until midnight on Sunday to provide a written request to their current school.

With the spring transfer window closing April 30, Alabama’s 2023 roster is becoming clearer.
